New dates for SaMoTer and Asphaltica. The two trade shows at Veronafiere dedicated to construction equipment and the bitumen & road infrastructure sector scheduled in Verona 16-20 May have now been re-scheduled to Wednesday 21-Sunday 25 October 2020, together with ICCX Southern Europe, the precast exhibition-conference. These events will now be held alongside Oil&nonOil, the energy, fuel and mobility services trade fair scheduled 21-23 October.
CEO Mantovani: “This decision was shared and supported by companies and reference associations; there is trust in our trade fairs as tools for overcoming the crisis”.
The decision to postpone these events was taken in view of the evolution of the novel Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 health emergency and the latest dispositions in the decree of the President of the Council of Ministers dated 11 March which imposes a blockade until 25 March of all activities that do not involve ensuring essential minimum services.
The requirements of this measure are incompatible with the organizational timing associated with the specific nature of these trade shows characterized by significant logistical and set-up complexities as regards handling and assembling large machinery. The October dates are also the best option as regards the seasonal work needs of the reference supply chains, which are concentrated in Summer.“We continue to monitor the scenario, together with the steering committee involving companies, partners and associations such as Unacea and Siteb which co-organizes Asphaltica with us,” explained Giovanni Mantovani, CEO of Veronafiere.
“The new postponement agreed upon is consequently the result of real-time listening to the market and careful assessments. We took into account the need to ensure safety in health terms and safeguard the important investments planned by companies taking part. This unity of intent with stakeholders once again highlights the sector's confidence in the capacity of the trade fair system to support it and be a tool for relaunching the sector, even in times of great crisis such as those we are currently experiencing.” “Faced by an emergency that is having a dramatic impact on the economy,” said Mirco Risi, President of Unacea, “we appreciate Veronafiere's capacity for reaction and the repositioning in October.
The new dates respect the seasonal nature of the construction machinery sector and will enable us to focus on starting up the entire sector again.” “We are very much looking forward to presenting ICCX Southern Europe in the context of SaMoTer, now in October,” said Holger Karutz, CEO of ad-media. We are confident that the economic situation in the entire region will soon return to normal.”
Southern Europe has a new meeting place for the concrete industry in the ICCX Southern Europe. The new trade fair will be organized in cooperation with the international construction equipment trade fair SaMoTer in Verona. A comprehensive conference program awaits professional visitors in an area specially built for the concrete industry at the Veronafiere exhibition center.
The first edition of the International Concrete Conference and Exhibition (ICCX) in Verona will feature broad participation of international and local construction experts as well as a wide range of exhibitors with different specialties from all areas of precast concrete technology. The five-day event will be held in cooperation with the renowned construction equipment trade fair SaMoTer, which has established itself in its more than 50-year history as the leading construction fair in the greater region of Northern Italy.
The event attracts guests from all over the world thanks to the extensive range of products from the construction sector. In 2017, the trade fair attracted over 53,000 visitors, 14% of whom were international visitors from 77 countries. A total of 455 companies from 25 countries exhibited at the SaMoTer 2017. Numerous new exhibitors from the concrete and precast concrete industry are also expected at the ICCX Southern Europe. A visit to the ICCX Southern Europe is a very good opportunity for the participant to learn more about the latest methods and technologies of the concrete and precast concrete industry.
Just at the right time
As investments in the Southern European construction sector continue to grow until 2021, the organization of the ICCX Southern Europe comes at just the right time. This is indicated by an interim balance sheet of SaMoTer-Prometeia Outlooks, an international trade report that records Italy's import/export performance in the construction machinery sector.
The survey shows that construction machinery exports already increased in the first nine months of 2019. Exports in the period January-September 2019 improved to 2.24 billion euros, compared with 2.19 billion in the same period of 2018. This increase is due in particular to exports of machinery for concrete production, which increased by 15.8% to a total of 246.63 million euros, and of machinery for the preparation of aggregates, which increased by 9.9% to 422.66 million euros.
In the first three quarters of 2019, Italian imports of construction equipment also increased significantly to 802.14 million euros, compared with 714.25 million euros in 2018 (+12.3%).
For 2020 and 2021, the construction industry is expected to grow by an average of +2 % per year. Housing construction is also set to expand over the period 2017-2021 as it continues to benefit from the positive contribution of investment in the renovation.
Extensive conference program
In order to present the latest products, solutions and technologies in the concrete and precast concrete industry, the ICCX Industry Concept Conference Program, which was successfully established years ago, will be continued.
As part of the conference program, leading industry players will take the opportunity to present their innovations to an expert audience in short and illustrative presentations. These could be the latest developments in machinery, as well as modern services or even recently completed projects.
Five thematic blocks structure the conference program: Software (IT solutions / BIM), precast technology (production technology for prestressed and untensioned precast elements, accessories, reinforcement technology), concrete products (machines and plants, moulds, post-treatment, hardening, surface finishing, pigments, handling), concrete technology (concrete technique, ready-mixed concrete, road construction and infrastructure solutions), wastewater technology (machines and plants for the production of concrete pipes and manholes).
