Southern Europe has a new meeting place for the concrete industry in the ICCX Southern Europe. The new trade fair will take place from 21-25 March 2020 and will be organized in cooperation with the international construction equipment trade fair SaMoTer in Verona. A comprehensive conference program awaits professional visitors in an area specially built for the concrete industry at the Veronafiere exhibition center.
The first edition of the International Concrete Conference and Exhibition (ICCX) in Verona will feature broad participation of international and local construction experts as well as a wide range of exhibitors with different specialties from all areas of precast concrete technology. The five-day event will be held in cooperation with the renowned construction equipment trade fair SaMoTer, which has established itself in its more than 50-year history as the leading construction fair in the greater region of Northern Italy.
The event attracts guests from all over the world thanks to the extensive range of products from the construction sector. In 2017, the trade fair attracted over 53,000 visitors, 14% of whom were international visitors from 77 countries. A total of 455 companies from 25 countries exhibited at the SaMoTer 2017. Numerous new exhibitors from the concrete and precast concrete industry are also expected at the ICCX Southern Europe. A visit to the ICCX Southern Europe is a very good opportunity for the participant to learn more about the latest methods and technologies of the concrete and precast concrete industry.
Just at the right time
As investments in the Southern European construction sector continue to grow until 2021, the organization of the ICCX Southern Europe comes at just the right time. This is indicated by an interim balance sheet of SaMoTer-Prometeia Outlooks, an international trade report that records Italy's import/export performance in the construction machinery sector.
The survey shows that construction machinery exports already increased in the first nine months of 2019. Exports in the period January-September 2019 improved to 2.24 billion euros, compared with 2.19 billion in the same period of 2018. This increase is due in particular to exports of machinery for concrete production, which increased by 15.8% to a total of 246.63 million euros, and of machinery for the preparation of aggregates, which increased by 9.9% to 422.66 million euros.
In the first three quarters of 2019, Italian imports of construction equipment also increased significantly to 802.14 million euros, compared with 714.25 million euros in 2018 (+12.3%).
For 2020 and 2021, the construction industry is expected to grow by an average of +2 % per year. Housing construction is also set to expand over the period 2017-2021 as it continues to benefit from the positive contribution of investment in the renovation.
Extensive conference program
In order to present the latest products, solutions and technologies in the concrete and precast concrete industry, the ICCX Industry Concept Conference Program, which was successfully established years ago, will be continued.
As part of the conference program, leading industry players will take the opportunity to present their innovations to an expert audience in short and illustrative presentations. These could be the latest developments in machinery, as well as modern services or even recently completed projects.
Five thematic blocks structure the conference program: Software (IT solutions / BIM), precast technology (production technology for prestressed and untensioned precast elements, accessories, reinforcement technology), concrete products (machines and plants, moulds, post-treatment, hardening, surface finishing, pigments, handling), concrete technology (concrete technique, ready-mixed concrete, road construction and infrastructure solutions), wastewater technology (machines and plants for the production of concrete pipes and manholes).
Selected solutions for the precast concrete industry
As an example, the following are some of the lectures that will be presented to the audience as part of the ICCX Industry Concept.
On 22 March the conference program will be dominated by precast technology, with the sub-sectors of production technology and reinforcement technology being addressed. Jörg Reymann, managing director of Ratec, will talk about modular housing construction. In his presentation, he will be presenting formwork solutions with 2D, 3D and hybrid precast structures. Hirotomo Ryu from Splice Sleeve will be dealing with the topic of earthquake-proof construction and will be talking about "Earthquake-resistant reinforcement connections from Japan" in his lecture.
In the field of concrete products, renowned supplier companies, who also have a booth at the trade exhibition as exhibitors, will provide information about news and trends on 23 March.
Andrea Seidel and Andreas Gebauer from the Kobra Group will start the conference day with the presentation "Large format concrete paving stones and slabs - challenge and opportunities", in which they will present possibilities for the production of large-format slabs. This is because in recent years, large-format concrete blocks and slabs have expanded their market presence in gardening and landscaping. The potential of these products is high; versatility and user-friendliness offer great possibilities to produce different surfaces and colour variations. Here, production and handling in the concrete plant differ from the small-format concrete block paving systems.
Matthias Bechtold from Wasa will then provide an overview of the extensive range of products offered by the manufacturer of production boards for concrete block production. In addition, he will speak about the business areas of moulds for wet and precast applications.
Manfred Ludwig, Managing Director of Franz Ludwig GmbH, will introduce the FL-WAPP sensor generation and the FL-Profi-Check-Advanced mobile measuring device to the professional visitors. The future-oriented sensor components can support modern Industry 4.0 concepts in the building materials industry. The wireless data transmission of humidity and temperature values via WiFi enables integration into networked process control systems as well as easy commissioning and testing of the sensors even under difficult process conditions.
In addition, trade fair participants can expect a presentation by Furio Cucini representing the production board manufacturer Assyx. Cucini will talk about the possibilities of concrete block production with the latest generation of Duroboard production board. Frank Reschke, Managing Director of the German plant manufacturer Masa, will present solutions for the production of coloured premium products as well as a short company presentation in his lecture "Concrete blocks do not always have to be grey!".
The conference program for 24 March is dedicated to the topic of concrete technology and combines the sub-sectors of concrete technique, ready-mix concrete, road construction, and infrastructure solutions. Alessandro Frison from the Italian plant manufacturer Simem will present examples of solutions for perfect precast construction in his lecture.
The complete conference program can be found on our website. All presentations will be held in either English or Italian and will be simultaneously translated into the other language.
