Future challenges facing the Russian building industry
ICCX Russia 2011 – a complete success once again
With almost 900 participants, the seventh ICCX Russia in a row was once again a great success. The aspiring city of St. Petersburg has proven its worth over the past years as the venue for this event. From 14 to 15 December 2011, representatives of both the Russian and foreign concrete and precast industries had the opportunity to visit the trade show, at which suppliers and users from the fields of concrete materials, production technology and the associated service providers presented their range of services and products. The extensive programme of lectures offered during the exhibition was very well attended by the visitors. The event was rounded off by factory tours, in which approximately 150 delegates participated.
The number of visitors, which increased once again, reflects the success of the Russian trade fair, which has been established since 2005. For years the ICCX Russia has offered the best possible forum for the sup- pliers and users of the concrete industry and is the ideal opportunity when it comes to making and maintaining contacts and networking in this branch of industry. Exclusively professional visitors attend this exhibition. The success of this event makes a clear statement: the Russian construction industry wants to expand and invest.
Programme: ICCX Russia 2011
The concrete technology seminar with the main topic ‘Optimisation of concrete production, taking into account individual requirements and aspects of cost’ had already lured many guests to St. Petersburg one day before the official opening of the ICCX. The course was held by the internationally recognised concrete experts Prof. Mechtcherine from Germany and Michael Khrapko from New Zealand, who presented the entire course in Russian. Apart from lectures by the two speakers, individual solutions to problems of Russian companies were presented this year for the first time. Hence, an opportunity was offered here to extensively discuss both the problems and the individual solutions in the circle of experts. More than 130 visitors from all over Russia took part in this course.
Two-day conference programme with accompanying trade exhibition
In parallel to the ICCX trade exhibition, renowned speakers from all over the world held lectures on subjects such as sustainability, structural facilities for power generation, infrastructure and sports stadium construction in Russia. The lectures were simultaneously interpreted in Russian, English and German. In addition, the ‘Industry Concept’ offered the exhibitors the possibility to present their companies and products in short presentations in a separate conference room.
International trade exhibition with almost 120 exhibitors from 20 nations
The conference centre of the Hotel Park Inn Pulkovskaya was booked up to the last place, which ensured the greatest possible offering of information for the visitors to the ICCX Russia. Hence, numerous promising business contacts were made once again this year. The number of visitors speaks for an aspiring Russian market, which is orientating itself not only to foreign countries in Europe. The visitors were able to benefit from the broadly diversified range of exhibitors and brought themselves up to date in the fields of plant, mixing, shuttering and processing technologies, conveyor systems, additions and admixtures, fastening and laying systems, reinforcement machines and software solutions as well as special concrete products.
Intensive consultations, initial contacts, customer care and the exchange of news were the order of the day, helping to network the entire concrete industry a little more. The trade exhibition at the ICCX Russia 2011 offered a detailed insight into modern concrete technology and related branches of industry.
Successful evening event
The popular evening event, which closed the first day of the conference and is well-known from previous years, took place once again this year in the Paulaner Brauhaus at the conference hotel. A live band that is well-known beyond the city limits of St. Petersburg provided the musical prelude to the evening event, which only ended for many visitors in the early hours of the morning.
Works tours to round off the ICCX
This year the participants were offered two different factory tours – a concrete block production works and a precast plant.
Around 150 delegates took up this offer, and so two groups travelled to the Cemsys works, just a few kilometres away, or to Vikon Construction on the outskirts of St. Petersburg. The open-minded works managers allowed unobstructed insights into the production processes of their companies and left no question unanswered. The exchange of many visiting cards during the inspections was proof of the intensive exchange between the delegates.
Each year the ICCX Russia offers an ideal platform for the Russian concrete industry
Apart from the visitors and exhibitors, the sponsors Holcim and Polyplast were completely satisfied with the way the event went. Feedback from the ICCX Russia showed even during the event that there is great interest on the part of all participants in the follow- up event in 2012. For an ever increasing number of decision-makers from the Russian concrete and precast concrete part industry it is an event that is not to be missed, and they take the opportunity to make and maintain contacts from all over the world.
