ICCX Russia 2010 - Review

The Russian concrete industry is looking forward to the future with confidence

The ICCX Russia is held annually and, on this 6th occasion, opened its gates in 2010 from 7th to 9th December at St. Petersburg. Suppliers and operators from the fields of concrete materials, production technology and their relevant service sectors gathered there to establish new contacts and deepen existing business relationships. Again in this year, the trade show provided both visitors and exhibitors with an exten- sive programme offering an all-day concrete technology seminar, a series of lectures as well as a selection of visits to production facilities. Something new this year was the “Industry Concept”, in which each one of the 90 exhibitors could use the opportunity of introducing his company, products and services in a 15-minute presentation to the trade public. A new visitor record was registered with a total of just on 900 participants.

With the construction business experiencing a significant upsurge at this time, the crowds of visitors were also greater this year than in the two previous years. The outlook for the concrete producing industry is clear weather - full speed ahead. This was reflected in the good mood of both visitors and exhibitors. For a number of years now, ICCX Russia has provided an ideal platform for suppliers and operators in the concrete industry and, since its inception, has become established as the most important trade fair in Russia.

ICCX Russia 2010 Programme

Besides the trade show exhibition, the comprehensive programme at ICCX Russia 2010 always had something to offer each person with its one-day concrete technology seminar, a two-day series of lectures and a constant supply of visits to production facilities.

Concrete Technology Seminar

This year’s concrete technology seminar with a focus on the topic “Additives and admixtures and their effect on the rheology of concrete” was presented by Prof. Viktor Mechtcherine and Michael Khrapko in Russian. The seminar, now held for the second time, met with very great interest as was shown by more than 130 participants. The closing discussion and question time – in the end it lasted almost 2.5 hours – was particularly popular; all the participants’ questions were able to be dealt with in a satisfactory manner.

Series of Lectures – Industry Concept

In 2010 for the first time, the lecture series was given in an “Industry Concept”, in which each exhibitor was offered theopportunity of presenting his product port-folio to the auditorium. It was thus possibleto gain information concerning diversemanu facturers and suppliers in the concreteindustry during a 15 minute talk, whichcould be given optionally in Russian,English or German. The different sessionswere divided into various fields of activity:

  • Machines and production facilities formanufacturing and spreading concretein precast concrete component facilities
  • Moisture measurement technology andtesting equipment for concrete
  • Concrete technology – additives andadmixtures, pigments and fibres
  • Machines for manufacturing concreteproducts
  • Machines and production facilities forfinishing concrete product surfaces
  • Accessories and auxiliary machines forconcrete products (moulds, boards,post-processing systems)
  • Machines for manufacturing concretepipes and manholes
  • Plant engineers for precast concreteproduction facilities
  • Machine and accessories for manufacturing prestressed precast concretecomponents
  • Software and planning instruments forprecast concrete components
  • Design systems and accessories for theprecast concrete component industry
  • Machines and production facilities formanufacturing and installing in-situconcrete
  • Machines and production facilities formanufacturing and processing reinforcing steel

A total of almost 60 talks were given on both days that had audiences of over 100 persons at peak times. In this way, visitors were able to set their own emphases and manage their timetable individually. There was also the possibility of following the talks over headphones with a simultaneous translation into English, Russian, or German.
Once a general overview of the products on offer by a company had been gained, it was possible to approach the exhibitor in question at the exhibition in a more targeted way with a view to obtaining better information and advice.

Exhibition with 90 exhibitors participating from 17 nations of the world

The conference centre at the Hotel Park Inn Pulkovskaya provided sufficient space for the numerous exhibitors from all over the world. The latter were met by an informed trade public with the prospect of promising business contacts in the up-and-coming Russian market. Visitors were able to profit from the wide variety on offer from the exhibitors and get up to date with state-of- the-art technology from the sectors including systems for plant, mixing, formwork and processing technology, conveyors, admix- tures and additives, fastening and laying systems, reinforcement machines and software solutions plus special concrete prod- ucts.

Dinner Party in the Paulaner Brauhaus

As is customary for the ICCX Russia, a dinner party was held on the evening of the first day of the exhibition in the hotel’s own Paulaner Brauhaus. This supporting pro- gramme afforded more than 500 guests an opulent serving of typical Bavarian dishes, together with exquisite beer brewed in- house. Of course, vodka, so typical of Russia, was not overseen and was very welcome after such a copious meal. A live band made its contribution to the good atmosphere with a delightful medley of music. In between times, the guests were entertained with acrobatic dance displays and various stage and magic shows. Later in the evening, the dance floor filled up as everyone joined in the relaxed mood of the first successful day at ICCX Russia 2010.

Production Facility Tours – a Fascinating Finale

As in previous years, the visits on offer to various production facilities enjoyed great popularity both with the exhibitors and also the trade public. More than 180 delegates were split up in three different tours. The vis- its proposed included a trip to Barrikada, a precast concrete component manufacturer, a tour of Metrobeton, a facility for manufac- turing concrete pipes and tunnel section liners and Lujabeton, a ready-mix concrete production facility. Here, too, the opportunity was given of a professional exchange of knowledge as well as of gaining new contacts. Thanks to the support of the factory managers, the visitors could have an inter- esting glimpse behind the scenes at these facilities.

ICCX is the platform for a global concrete industry network

The ICCX Russia once again bears proof of the fact that decision-makers from the con- crete and precast component sectors come together there to exchange information on research and development, whilst using the opportunity of maintaining and gaining contacts from the entire world. It was clearly evident that the Russian concrete industry is once again on the advance and open for the latest technology. The large number of firm commitments by exhibitors for the ICCX Russia on 13th – 15th Dec. 2011 is reason enough to look forward to another successful event.
