ICCX Central Europe 2020

Central Europe’s most important precast concrete element conference and tradeshow booming in Warsaw

Poland is again proving to be a reliable mainstay of the construction industry in Central Europe. This is also demonstrated by the increasing number of both visitors and exhibitors at the ICCX Central Europe, which took place for the seventh time this year. At the Double Tree by Hilton conference hotel in Warsaw, more than 750 participants visited the exhibition and heard the talks in the conference room; 110 companies presented their products and services for the concrete and precast concrete element industries.

The Polish construction industry has displayed the strongest growth amongst the consistently expanding construction industries of the Central European countries. For 2020, analysts are predicting growth of 3.3% on a total volume amounting to € 58.4 billion. Residential construction is the main driving force behind this development. A total of 211,000 residential houses are expected to be completed in this current year with a rise in market volume to € 17.9 billion in this segment. The signs also point to growth in the non-residential construction segment.

The other countries from this Central European region, i.e. Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary, are also displaying similar tendencies – albeit at a more modest level.

It is no wonder, then, with the backdrop of these booming economic conditions that the ICCX Central Europe 2020 conference and tradeshow could book increases in the number of its visitors and exhibitors. More than 750 participants (+10 %) and a total of 110 companies from all over the world (+7 %) came to the two-day event at the DoubleTree by Hilton conference hotel in Warsaw. ICCX Central Europe 2020 was supported by Platinum Sponsors Techmatik and Ecoratio, Gold Sponsors Hawiflex, TopWerk, Chryso, and Keda Suremaker as well as Silver Sponsors Quadra, Masa, and Royal Cement.

High quality of the exhibition visitors

The mood amongst exhibitors was very good. All companies surveyed by the event organizer assessed the possibilities for concrete and precast concrete elements to be “good” up to “very good” on the Central European markets. Exhibitors were happy with the great number of visitors thanks to the ICCX Central Europe being an event unvaryingly focussed on concrete and precast concrete element production. They accordingly rated as “very good” the quality of visitors, especially from Poland, Germany, Russia, the Ukraine, Belarus and the other above mentioned countries of Central Europe.

As in previous years, all companies of note in the international concrete and precast concrete element sector were represented at the ICCX Central Europe 2020 and who have a name in the segments: ready-mix/in-situ concrete, structural precast concrete elements, pipes and manholes, concrete products and autoclaved aerated concrete.

Great interest in talks by specialists

ICCX events, of course including the ICCX Central Europe, are not just appreciated by visitors on account of their comprehensive exhibitions but also for their specialist conferences with lectures on trends and developments in the international concrete and precast concrete element industries.

Following the opening session with macro-economic outline data concerning the construction industry in Central Europe, this year’s program included lecture sessions on four subjects: “Concrete Technology”, “Precast Elements”, “Concrete Products” and “Autoclaved Aerated Concrete”. The event organizers took care to create a balanced mix between lectures on optimizing established production practice e.g. “Special visual and architectural requirements – further technological challenges in shaping concrete surfaces” and those about more future-oriented technologies that are nonetheless already slowly making inroads into production e.g. “Quality management with systems for optical surface assessment in manufacturing concrete goods”.

The talk by Juris Baumanis was very well received. The marketing manager at Consolis Latvia presented his answers to the question posed in his contribution’s title: “How to grow the market share of precast housing structures in the Baltic countries?”

A positive response was registered as expected to the contribution from Prof. Viktor Mechtcherine from the Technical University of Dresden. In his talk “Extrusion-based Digital Construction: Opportunities and Challenges”, Mechtcherine dealt with the current highly topical issue of 3D printing technology using concrete (some of his basic lines of argument from this talk can be read in our specialized magazine CPT worldwide, 01/2019, p. 12-17).

The program evidently catered to the interests of visitors and the conference room was still well filled right up to the end of the last lecture session on the second day of the event.

To be continued in March 2021

Participants were also able to fittingly celebrate this meeting place – ICCX Central Europe – of the industry in Central Europe. On the evening of the first conference and exhibition day, the event organiser extended an invitation to a gala dinner in the restaurant of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotels. ICCX participants could dance to live music versions of old popular songs and newer hits played by the “Electric Girls” band in the adjacent “Zazen” bar.

Firm bookings have already been made for about 80% of the stands available for the next ICCX Central Europe conference and tradeshow at the DoubleTree by Hilton-Hotel in Warsaw. Anybody still wishing to participate and book a stand should reserve their place here with a few clicks.

The ICCX Central Europe 2021 will take place from 3rd to 4th March 2021.
