Technical Courses at ICCX Latin America 2014 held by international concrete experts again
ICCX Latin America 2014 starts March 25th with Technical Courses. The courses will take place in the CentroSul Convention & Exhibition Center this time, due to the overwhelming number of participants at the premiere of ICCX Latin America in 2012. While the Technical Courses took place in a hotel in Florianópolis that year and every last seat was taken, the CentroSul will offer enough room to accommodate the even higher number of participants that is expected this time for the second ICCX Latin America in Brazil.
Two courses will be held in parallel again this time, both simultaneously interpreted into the conference languages Portuguese, Spanish, and English. Prof. Joost Walraven from the Netherlands and Arnold Van Acker from Belgium will be the speakers of the first course. Together, they will present a highly interesting lecture program on the subject "State of the Art of Precast Concrete Design according to the New Model Code". This course especially addresses precast concrete manufacturers and engineers, who will hear valuable news about design methods, the most recent standards and state of knowledge taken into account.
The second course by Prof. Carmen Andrade from Spain will be treating the subject "Durability of Concrete Structures – Mechanisms, Testing, Repair". Its participants will be presented with interesting and new insights and solutions for their daily work.
After the courses, all participants are cordially invited to the Welcome Reception, which will take place in the premises of the exhibition held in conjunction with the conference. The relaxed atmosphere of this reception will allow everybody to exchange opinions on the new insights gained throughout the day or to make first contact with the exhibiting international companies who will be at the exhibition for two further days after that.
On the two following days, the "traditional" ICCX-Conference will take place in the way that has proven its worth at numerous ICCX-Events worldwide. March 26th and 27th, 2014, will offer an extensive conference program with many international speakers. In addition to that, exhibitors from all over the world will be representing their companies, displaying products and solutions in the exhibition.
The lecture program of ICCX Latin America 2014 will, among others, treat the following key subjects:
- Infrastructure
- Energy
- Maintenance
- Concrete Technology
- Concrete Blocks and Pavers
- Concrete Pipes and Manholes
A highlight of the event will be the presentation of fib-Commission 6's new handbook that has been worked out over the last 5 years under the direction of Arnold Van Acker. More than 50,000 copies of the first edition of the "Planning and Design Handbook on Precast Building Structures" have been distributed worldwide. The new handbook will most probably be published in spring 2014, just in time for ICCX Latin America 2014.
On the last day of ICCX Latin America 2014, March 28th, there will be guided Plant Tours to concrete plants in Santa Catarina again. This event will be another highlight for many participants, as it was already greatly appreciated at the first ICCX Latin America in 2012.
